2023-24 Select FIFA is back for another year and unlike the previous Select soccer card releases this year FIFA changed things up a little big from last year. Panini decided to add some club teams to the mix. Many of these teams also showed up in 2023-24 Donruss Soccer. I am not saying they did this to get the Palmeiras rookies in to help the set, but that doesn’t seem completely unfounded. If you have opened any Select in the past 2 years you are pretty familiar with how the product makeup works now. Keep reading to see what to expect in this year’s product.

2023-24 Select FIFA Breakdown
Checklist – HERE
Box Makeup – Hobby (Search On Ebay) – 3 Autos OR patches, 5 #’d cards
Print Run – ~1300 hobby cases.
SoccerCardsHQ Review – 2023-24 Select FIFA is the final installment of the Select soccer releases for the year and like the most of the previous there was a little bump in print run from last year. At 1300 cases it’s still very reasonable compared to most other non Select 2023-24 soccer sets. That said across all the 2023-24 Select soccer card releases there are almost 6000 hobby cases combined which is more inline with what we are used to. I must say I am not a fan of Panini adding club teams to this product. Especially when you consider the fact almost all the players they put in club kits in FIFA have club kit cards in one of the Select league products. For some of the players they used what looks like a very similar photo which is very lazy and not good. That said, at least they did some goods things as a result of the change.
As with every soccer card set he has been in this year, Lamine Yamal (Search On Ebay) will be the chase of 2023-24 Select FIFA. Unlike every other set this is one of the few where he will have Spain cards with a RC on them. Remember Topps has used “National Debut” for their Euros set so far. Yamal has 3 base cards, an auto, a patch card and 3 inserts including 2 case hits , Artistic Impressions and Visionary. Much like Topps, Panini was not shy about pumping out his cards. Endrick (Search On Ebay) also shows up in the checklist with his second set of Palmeiras rookie cards. I feel a bit bad for anyone who bought his Donruss rookies thinking they would be his only Palmeiras rookies. If we have learned anything from the manufacturers these days, it’s that they will keep pumping out hot rookies as much as they can even if they have to change up how they operated in the past. We also now know that Topps plans on using the RC on his 2024-25 Real Madrid cards. I am not going to go into my Wookie tirade again, but obviously I am not happy with their decision. Ultimately it will be up to us soccer collectors to value what is rarer and more legit. I am not holding my breath on that though.
The most interesting rookie in this set is Endrick’s Palmeiras teammate Estevao. Estevao is a 17 year old winger who has already signed with Chelsea (who hasn’t amirite) for next season. Estevao gets 2 base cards and 2 inserts including 1 case hit (Search On Ebay). Even though I don’t like Panini’s addition of clubs to 2023-24 Select FIFA, at least they gave us a great rookie who shouldn’t have many rookie cards which is a unicorn these days. That said, we have to wait until Panini finally decides to stop releasing 2023-24 soccer card products. We know that won’t be for a while and who knows they could even drag it into 2025 like they did with that sham 2020 Immaculate Soccer set. Of course that will all change when Topps comes out with 2025-26 Estevao rookies, but we aren’t going to let them get away with it on a 2 year difference right….RIGHT?
2023-24 Select FIFA has the same 4 case hits as all the other Select soccer products. The print runs for the 4 case hits are Stained Glass ~43 (Search On Ebay), Artistic Impressions (Search On Ebay) and Visionary ~52 (Search On Ebay) and Team Badges ~65 (Search On Ebay). The Stained Glass checklist has a lot legends which is interesting. The Artistic Impressions and Visionary are current players. The Team Badges has club cards for the teams that aren’t in the other Select products which is a nice addition for fans of those teams.
There aren’t any Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo autos in 2023-24 Select FIFA. That means the dynamic duo didn’t have any 2023-24 Select autos. The current players on the auto checklist aren’t all that great. Erling Haaland, Christian Pulisic and Heung-Min Son highlight the patch auto checklist. Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe highlight the non patch auto checklists. If you don’t hit one of those you are probably going to be hoping to hit a legend if you want some good value.
Panini still hasn’t shown a release price, but I am assuming it will be in the low-mid $400s per hobby box. I imagine that those will sell pretty quickly since the Lamine Yamal hype is still going strong. That is if anyone has any money left after chasing Dynasty. I am kidding….sort of. Even though I am not a fan of the changes Panini made, this is a pretty good product in the low $400 price range when compared some other recent releases. The ultimate price of the boxes will rise and fall with the much hype rookies that are in the product. Like the rest of Select there will be retail of FIFA and those boxes should be fun reasonable rips if they are priced like the other Select which I expect them to be.
