2024 Topps Chrome UEFA Euro, or as Topps has listed it on their promo material, checklist and odds 2023-24 Topps Chrome UEFA Euro, is finally here only 4 months after the 2024 Euros have finished. I only point out the 2023-24 thing because it makes no sense, but also if you are searching for cards you will probably need to put it. This is not a “Road To” product. It is the official set for the tournament so there is no need to put 2023 anywhere. 2023 is not on the box either. Anyways I guess we should be happy we got it in the year 2024 after the releases of 2022-23 Topps Dynasty UEFA and 2022 Bowman Chrome Road to UEFA U21 Euros in the last couple months. It hasn’t been a banner couple of months for the Topps soccer card division as far as timing goes. There are a few things that excite me about this product now that I have seen the checklist and odds. More on that in the review below.

Soccer Cards HQ Review – If it’s been so long that you forgot there were two other Topps Euro products released much earlier this year. I suggest you go back and read the 2023-24 Topps Finest Road to UEFA Euro 2024 review as it will point out a lot of what was wrong with that product which is the same for this product. Mainly the lack of licensing for some of the biggest teams. Topps is very fortunate that the winning team, Spain, is licensed.

The other thing that Topps has going for them is that the 2024 Euro brought Lamine Yamal (Search On Ebay) to the forefront of the hobby. Lamine Yamal brings big value to this product like he has pretty much every 2023-24 Topps soccer card product. Of course the cards in here are not labeled as rookies or RCs but as National Debut. I still don’t know what that is going to play out in the long run since Panini put out Spain cards with the RC. I would guess since he won they will be desired, but had he not I am not sure that is the case. Yamal gets a dual auto with Nico Williams which is pretty cool seeing how the tournament played out. Yamal also has autos and a Berlin At Night, Hobby Masters and Cast In Gold card. There is also a section for Renaissance on the checklist. Renaissance does not show up on the odds sheet. The only card listed under Renaissance is Lamine Yamal. I have no idea what that is about. I guess we will have to wait and see. Yamal is also featured heavily in the auto checklist with the Merlins Match Ball Auto (Search On Ebay) being an interesting one that seemingly comes from Merlin yet isn’t on the odds page.

Speaking of autos in 2024 Topps Chrome Euro the checklist has some interesting cards. The triple autos are some classic pairing. Like with most everything in this set the lack of licensing will make the cards much less desirable. For the Spain collectors there are Euro Final Net Auto cards (Search On Ebay). Topps is pulling out any and all relics they can these days especially as a reason to sell Topps Now cards. The net relics are certainly better than some relics they are using like confetti and tablecloths, but I would still rather have something a player has at least touched like the ball. They have added Draw Relic Auto (Search On Ebay) cards as well which we have seen before in Champions League products. Since these are all 1/1s they are desired even though the oversized card with the sticker auto doesn’t really work from a design perspective. If they had them with a nice big on-card auto they would be class. There is also a 1/1 UEFA Players Of The Year Auto booklet that will be desired for the booklet collectors. Cristiano Ronaldo gets his own 6 card Era of Excellence Auto set (Search On Ebay) which highlights his Euro career.

The inserts are where this set gets interesting to me. We will start with the plentiful ones that won’t move the needle much. Dream Big, Cheat Code, Neon Nations and 1960 Topps are going to be a you either love it or hate it design but they are so plentiful it won’t matter much either way. Ultimate Showdown will be cool for the collectors of the teams that actually won the games depicted, but there are plenty of base to go around. Hero Variation and European Tour 2024 have a print run of ~285 which is probably too many for most of the players on the checklist. the Euro 2024 mascot Albart gets a card in here. I doubt many people will care about the base, but there is a Superfractor. Hobby Masters (Search On Ebay) has a print run of ~170 which is a decently short print card which matters because of Lamine Yamal.

OK now let’s get to the good stuff. There are some inserts in the set that have small print runs that should be highly collectible. The first are Sketch cards (Search On Ebay) which Topps has used in other products. This is the first time they have been used in major hobby soccer release. They were in 2023 Topps Argentina Fileteado as well. Sketch cards aren’t for everyone but they are 1/1s so they will be chased. The Cast In Gold Die Cut have a print run of ~50 each. Die Cuts don’t get a ton of love but hey they are gold and there aren’t a ton of them. While 50 is a very reasonable print run these days these next 3 inserts are truly exciting and not much gets me excited in ultra-modern products. It takes a very short print, well designed and thought out card and both of these fit the bill. Each team has a “Base Card Short Print” with a print run of ~25 so they will be very desirable for team collectors. They even have Superfractors which I am sure will do big numbers. I mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo Era of Excellence autos earlier but there are base cards as well. The amazing part is there are only 7 of each. I assume that was on purpose to honor CR7. (Search On Ebay) The Berlin At Night (Search On Ebay) cards will be a huge hit. People really seem to be loving the look of them. The way they are designed the lack of licensing does not matter. The best part is there are only ~20 of each. Topps finally mixed a great design and made it short print enough to where they should get value. The only thing that would’ve made these better is if they did a Superfractor, but that can be said for just about any card.

Topps will be putting 2024 Topps Chrome Euro hobby boxes on sale for $150. I expect at that price and with the somewhat limited print run they won’t last too long. I am not sure that these shoot up in value so don’t but thinking you will get rich flipping. You get 2 more parallels and an extra auto in Finest and the boxes are under $150 just to give you an idea. We know from the Finest singles resales that most of the cards won’t have a ton of value. I know Chrome is better than Finest but honestly most of these cards won’t be collectible so it really doesn’t matter as much as with other products. Oh and the fact that there is a Sapphire version of this coming. I do think people will enjoy ripping them at the release price. Most of the boxes are going to be awful, but the big chases are there to get people to pay up for boxes. Topps, with the help of Lamine Yamal and Spain, have made the best out of a mostly crappy situation.
